eSellerate Updates the Embedded Web Store SDK for Macintosh

eSellerate today released a new Embedded Web Store SDK for Macintosh. The updated SDK is version 1.0.1.31, and it includes the following enhancements and bug fixes:

• Event handling for the eSellerate Embedded Web Store Engine (EWSMac.framework) is now more robust.
• An issue with the SDK returning an invalid result (E_SDK_ENGINE_NOT_INSTALLED) for the eWeb_InstallFromPath function is fixed.
• Changes were made to prevent the engine from appearing in the Trash as a recovered file.
• The askToConnect parameter is now available for use with the eWeb_ActivateSerialNumber function. This parameter controls whether a dialog is displayed asking the user for permission to connect to the Internet when no active connection is found. Previous SDK versions included the parameter with eWeb_ActivateSerialNumber, but reserved it for future use.
• To help customers with slow Internet connections recognize that the engine is in the process of self-updating, a progress bar now displays.
• A bug fix eliminates a permissions error that sometimes occurred when writing activation keys for a successful product activation.
• To eliminate compiler warnings that sometimes occurred when interfacing applications with the SDK, several internal variables have been renamed.

If you currently use the Embedded Web Store solution, we recommend that you recompile your application with the new SDK, and make the update available to your customers. (Be sure to use the latest header file, library and engine, as explained below.)

The new Embedded Web Store SDK for Macintosh is available for downloading at www.esellerate.net/downloads.

How to transition to the new SDK

The following SDK files were updated for this release:

• EWSLib.h
• libEWS.a
• EWSMac.framework
• EWSMacCompress.tar.gz (the compressed version of EWSMac.framework)

To update applications that use the previous version of the SDK:

1. Add the new EWSLib.h and libEWS.a to your development project.
2. Update your install methods to use the new engine (EWSMac.framework). For example, if you use the eWeb_InstallEngineFromPath function to install the engine, place the new engine in the appropriate path for that function.
3. Recompile your application.
4. Complete your usual testing procedures.
5. Make the updated application available to your customers.
