eSellerate Extends Web Store Customization to Receipts
Wed, February 6, 2008

With a release today, eSellerate has extended your options for customizing the look and feel of your web stores. This update gives you precise control over the receipt pages for your eSellers that use Custom Layouts (Web Store and Embedded Web Store eSellers). The new options build on an advanced feature set that is available only when using Custom Layouts, which includes:

  • PayPal payments
  • Subscription-based licensing
  • Up-selling
  • Prefilling data into the purchase process

Notes on this feature:

  • New layouts will use a customizable receipt by default. This receipt matches the eSellerate system page that up until now has provided the receipts for all purchases. You can leave the default receipt page as is, or you can customize it for your own use.
  • Layouts that you created prior to this release will continue to work as in the past, with a system page providing the receipts for all purchases.
  • Because you manage the HTML that drives the receipts, you can add tracking code to take advantage of the reporting capabilities of solutions such as the latest version of Google Analytics.
  • eSellerate provides four receipt samples that you can use as a starting point for your own receipts. One of these samples demonstrates how to pass eSellerate sales information to Google Analytics.
  • If eSellerate has added tracking code to your receipt pages as part of a custom solution, please let us know when you're ready to update your layouts for customizable receipts. We will then remove the unneeded code, to prevent duplication or errors in your tracking data.

For more information on customizable receipts, see "Custom Layouts: Receipt Page Notes" in the online help, or "Receipt Page notes" on page 11-19 of the latest eSellerate User's Guide.

New "Support URL" field in Receipt Information

To allow you to differentiate between main and support URLs in your receipt information, we have updated the Receipt Information sections in the following areas:

  • The Receipt Information page
  • The Web Store eSeller Detail page
  • The Embedded Web Store eSeller Summary page

These sections now include two values for URL. "Main URL" replaces the former "URL" field, and remains a required field. A new "Support URL" field is optional. The value entered for "Support URL" displays in Custom Layouts only.

The default receipt page uses a new eSellerate variable, _Order.ReceiptMessage, to display the main and support URLs, along with other information.

Changes for the "eSellerate Security" link

We also have expanded our security policy content to include our re-export statement. As part of that update, we made _eSellerate.SecurityPolicyLink a required variable for Custom Layouts, and expanded its label. Layouts rendering this variable will now show "eSellerate Security & Terms" for the link, instead of "eSellerate Security" as in the past. Please check your existing layouts to ensure that the longer link does not cause display problems.

NOTE: Web Store eSellers that use one of the six legacy layouts will display the updated links and expanded eSellerate information as described above. Integrated eSellers will continue to show an "eSellerate Security" link, which when clicked will display our security policy without the re-export statement.

As always, our support team is available to answer any questions you may have about this release. You can direct your inquiries to support@esellerate.net.
